Book Title: Looking For Alaska
Author: John Green
Genres: Young Adult, YA, Mystery, Romance?
I read this in book format.
I’d just completed The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and I was looking for another book that would steal my heart, then take it out and stamp on it.
I’m not sure why I didn’t enjoy this book, I just didn’t.
Maybe it’s just me, maybe other people love this book but I promised myself I would be honest when it came to book blogging and reviewing.
I just didn’t feel any sort of emotional connection to the characters or the plot, in fact, it was somewhat forgettable. This book is boasted as a ‘coming-of-age story’ but I didn’t feel that. In fact, I wasn’t sure what to even put in the genre list. Was this novel a romance? I’m not entirely sure.
I wasn’t dragged in in the first chapter, hooked and unable to put it down. I simply finished it because I had started it. In the words of Mastermind legend, John Humphrys, “I’ve started, so I’ll finish.”
I was sadly disappointed, but you may not be. Try it, see how you feel.
I regrettably give this book a 2 out of 5.
