Book Title: The Beautiful Dead
Author: Belinda Bauer
I read this in book format.
First of all, how beautiful is this cover? I was instantly attracted to it.
The Beautiful Dead by Belinda Bauer was sent to me by the lovely folks at Transworld, in return for an honest review, but truthfully, I won’t have to fabricate my review on this. I don’t need to try to sell it to you, believe me when I tell you that this is a good book. Great, in fact.
Eve Singer is a news reporter. When a murder happens, she is the one you would see on your television screens, standing in front of crime scenes, telling you everything they know so far. The killer is obsessed with death, finding it beautiful. So, he continues killing publicly and begins contacting Eve to be the first with news from every scene. The killer becomes obsessed with Eve and her life is well a truly in danger.
This book is incredible. And I truly mean that.
I was not even halfway through and I got myself into bed to read some more. By almost 3am, I had finished the book. I simply could not put it down. It was like a glass of gin that I couldn’t stop filling and drinking. I was getting drunk on the words and taking it all in.
I like that the main character, Eve, is not only a strong female character, but she has heart too. You’d think that someone who reports about death for a living and sees terrible scenes on a daily basis would be stereo-typically rude and conceited, if not a little mad. It was refreshing to find that Eve was the opposite. Eve is completely switched on and smart, with a funny side. With a Father that needs constant care, Eve really does have a difficult life, made even worse when a serial killer becomes obsessed with her so you really feel a connection to her and want her to be safe.
This book is a revelation. You’ll be hypnotised. You’ll be frozen with fear but you’ll keep turning each page, needing, craving, more. You’ll lose your breath with each gasp, you’ll gulp with fear.
This book is released November 17th 2016

Please read this. It is truly gory and sadistic, but in the best way possible.
I honestly loved this and if you’re like me, you will too.
I give this book a strong 5 out of 5.
