I stumbled upon this incredibly clever company online and just had to try their cakes. With an Alice In Wonderland themed idea, the cakes and design concepts are all based around the classic tale. I thought it would be a perfect match to my blog, alcohol and literature!
I approached the lovely folks at Eat Me Ltd for a chance to review their alcoholic cakes. They kindly accepted and sent me three flavours.
I chose the Mad Hatter, which is vodka, tequila, rum, gin, cointreau & coke flavoured. The Cheshire Cat, which is vodka, triple sec & cranberry juice flavoured and finally, the Through the Looking Glass, which is gin, tonic & a splash of blackcurrant flavoured.
They arrived all the way from Glasgow and though the icing had melted in the rare British heatwave we’ve had, hence my lack of personal photos, the taste was amazing.
These cakes are perfectly sweet and the alcohol tastes were there, but not overpowering at all.
They would be perfect for hen parties, weddings, birthday parties… even baby showers! And with an entire batch of 12 cakes only containing 2 units of alcohol, you can still drive! As long as you don’t eat all twelve, of course. Which may be difficult with these incredible cakes.
I split the three cakes between myself and my parents and they both had only good words to say too.
Even my dog, Ruby, was waiting around for any dropped crumbs but she was turned away, they are alcoholic after all!
I strongly recommend you buying these cakes. They are clever, unique and they taste incredible!
I give them a strong 4.5 out of 5 stars.
