I read this in book format.
Firstly, how beautiful is this cover? I love that it’s a clever hint at the plot without giving too much away.
Undertow is the story of Carmen and Tom. They’re happily married, blissfully in love and they appear to have it all. But when Carmen begins to suspect that Tom killed the mistress that broke up his first marriage, it seems that paradise is about to become hell on earth.
This story gripped me from the start.
I like how we were told, in real time, the discovery of Zena’s body on the beach by dog walkers. It played out in my mind like a television show and I imagined it to be similar to Broadchurch, the incredible mystery from a few years ago.
Skip forward a few years and Tom is remarried, he’s happy and he’s successful.
I love how this story doesn’t unfold at a rapid pace. It is genuine, it’s well written and it’s still a roller coaster ride of emotions.
I genuinely thought I’d worked out the ending.
I was wrong.
You’ll love this, it’s incredible. I was scrambling to get to the end. I needed answers!
Undertow can be purchased here.
Thank you to the lovely folks at Quercus books for sending this great read my way!
I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
