As a child, I was obsessed with being creative.
From my Nan announcing to everyone as I worked my magic on a colouring book horse that I was left handed, to begging my older sister to let me paint using her fancy oil paints and canvases, I have always been in love with art.
I never really used makeup as a child and I only really began using it at the age of around 15. I didn’t even pluck my eyebrows until then.
I started a college course where I tried my hand at special FX makeup looks.
I was hooked.
From creating bruises, cuts, gunshot wounds, burns and even doing work experience on a BBC television show, I knew that makeup was my ‘thing’.
I use my imagination to create a story for each makeup look I create. I give life to that person and give them a background.
The image you see at the top of this post, for example, is an extremely wealthy heiress who married the person she believed to be the love of
her life, only to be murdered as soon as they were alone. Her new husband stole all of her money.
Though I may not be fantastic, nor the best, I love creating looks and giving myself a new person to be, even just for a few hours or for the evening.
I’ve transformed myself into many famous characters too. Including Bellatrix Lestrange, Moaning Myrtle, Edward Scissorhands, Ariel (with her voice ripped out), Rumpelstiltskin, the Wicked Witch of The West, Cruella DeVil… the list goes on.
It is truly a hobby of mine and I am always looking for inspiration and new characters to create or recreate.
I am considering making posts on here about makeup looks I create and have created but for some reason, I’m nervous about it.
Would you like to see posts about them? A profile of my character? A story of them and their life?
Please, let me know. Leave a comment or send me a tweet and I will consider it but either way, I thought I would share one of my other loves, as well as gin, books and blankets. Make up.
