Book Title: Rattle
Author: Fiona Cummins
Publisher: Pan Macmillan
Released?: January 26th 2017
I read this in book format.
After months of begging, I was sent a copy of Rattle in return for an honest review.
Rattle is the story of one man. A frightening killer with a chilling secret and motive. He is dubbed the Bone Collector. He watches, he waits, he is unseen. Jakey and Clara are just children but they have something he wants and he won’t stop at anything to get it.
To say Rattle chilled me to the core would be one hell of an understatement. It was raw, shocking and fantastically dark so if you’re someone who likes a soft thriller, Rattle isn’t for you.
I adored this book.
It is written very cleverly, focusing on each character and bringing them to life in a very unique way. The story flows so well that one minute you’re on page 26 and in, what feels like the next second, you’re on page 226. It is the kind of book that you race through because you simply cannot put it down.
The story is strong and smart, each character is fascinating and real and I really enjoyed the developments in the character profiles.
I really liked that there was one main police character in our story but she wasn’t the focus. There weren’t wasted chapters of her in her office trying to find answers or trying to find people to interview, only chapters of her following up on leads, which is refreshing change for a story like this one.
It is quick paced and left the hairs on my neck and arms standing up at many points of the tale.
With a unique ending the left me with the words, “oh no”, literally leaving my mouth, this is a book that will leave you with questions. If you like a book that tucks everything into a nice neat box, then this may not be the book for you, but for me, I was left to wonder about what next for the characters.
I’d really love to see this made into a TV drama or a film.
Rattle is available on Amazon to pre order now and it is released on January 26th, 2017.
